3rd – 5th Grade
All 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders take the following courses:
English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, PE, Art, Music, Health
6TH GRADE
All 6th graders take the following courses
- English Language Arts
- Math
- Science
- Social Studies
- PE
- Health
- 1 Fine Arts Elective (either Art or Music)
7TH GRADE
All 7th graders take the following courses:
- English Language Arts
- Math
- Science
- Social Studies
- PE
- Family & Consumer Science*
- 1 Optional Elective: Art, Music or High School Spanish I*
8TH GRADE
All 8th graders take the following courses:
- English Language Arts (English 8 or High School English I)
- Math (Math 8 or Algebra I)
- Science
- Social Studies
- PE
- Health (Health 8 or High School Health*)
- Data Entry* (for new students in the fall), Lifetime Nutrition & Wellness* (spring)
- Optional Elective: PE, Art, Music, High School Spanish I or High School Spanish II
*Family & Consumer Science as well as Spanish I are high school courses that allow students to earn high school credit in middle school. If after the first 9 weeks of a semester a student is failing, the teacher will review the student’s placement in the course. In order to take Spanish I, students must earn a grade of 80+ in their 6th grade courses to be eligible.
*High school elective courses are more advanced with an increased workload, so the following requirements/recommendations apply:
- Health, College Readiness & Study Skills – A/B student requirement
- Spanish I – A/B student requirement
- Spanish II – must have Spanish I credit, A/B student recommended but not required
If after the first 9 weeks of the semester a student is failing, the teacher will review the student’s placement in the course.
