What is the flex program?
FLEX exists to provide increased flexibility to families while empowering Learning Coaches to support student academic growth and success. FLEX students are fully enrolled in all required courses and engage with instructional content through the online platform. While live class sessions are generally optional, students remain accountable for all daily and weekly deadlines. Students work alongside their Learning Coaches and follow the course calendar while benefiting from a flexible schedule that allows them to complete lessons and activities at their own pace.
Requirements to Enroll
- Complete the FLEX Interest Form during an open enrollment window.
- New students may be identified through the enrollment process.
- Returning students may express interest through an emailed invitation.
- Special Education students will undergo a review based on IEP requirements.
- Complete the FLEX Acknowledgement Form to finalize enrollment.
- Attend required orientation and welcome sessions.
Requirements & Expectations to Remain in the FLEX Program
These requirements and expectations must be met for a student to remain in the FLEX Program.
Course Work
- Maintain a 70% or higher in all courses, including core and elective classes.
- Submit all assignments on time and communicate with teachers regarding late work.
- Complete all CFA assignments as assigned.
- Complete the Online Learning Course within one week of the start of school.
Testing
- Complete all required online and in-person testing within designated testing windows and maintain academic integrity.
- Meet growth expectations on standardized assessments and CFA assessments.
- Learning Coaches may not provide academic support during at-home testing.
Communication
- Maintain monthly communication with teachers and school staff.
- Return TVAH phone calls and email messages within 48 hours.
- Complete the Monthly Connection Survey and attend required bi-weekly FLEX live sessions.
Engagement
- Students must engage in courses daily, five days per week, and complete required assignments according to the weekly plan.
- Learning Coaches are responsible for supporting instruction and ensuring student participation.
Academic Integrity
- Students and Learning Coaches must follow the TVAH Student Handbook and maintain academic integrity at all times.
Attendance
- Students must meet daily attendance requirements through active engagement each school day.
- Daily engagement may include checking school email, reviewing course content, watching instructional recordings, participating in discussions, or submitting assignments.
- Failure to engage daily may result in an unexcused absence and removal from the FLEX Program.
- Students must follow all TVAH Attendance Policies and Expectations.
Live Class Sessions
- Live class attendance is generally optional unless otherwise required.
- Students enrolled in Grades 6-8 Math, Advanced 6th Grade Math, Advanced 7th Grade Math, and Algebra I must attend all live math instructional sessions.
- Students receiving MTSS, Emergent Bilingual, Dyslexia, Special Education, C&CP, AP, or other required services must attend all required intervention or program sessions.
- Students may be required to attend additional sessions when teachers identify a need for remediation or support.
Dismissal Process
Students who do not meet FLEX participation requirements will receive a warning, probation status, and opportunities for improvement before removal from the program. Students who fail to meet requirements after the probation process will be removed from FLEX and required to attend applicable live class sessions. Families may also request removal from the program at any time through campus administration.
