FLEX Program

Flex exists to provide increased flexibility to families while empowering Learning Coaches to assist with growth and success of their students. Flex students are fully involved in the curriculum alongside their Learning Coaches and their experience is one that fits within the calendars of the course but that more appropriately patterns their lifestyle, their needs, and their learning.

Requirements to Enroll

Fall Candidates

  • May be any qualifying current student.
  • Show test scores indicating student is on grade level (EOY scores from previous year)
  • Have 75% or higher on final coursework grades from previous year
  • Attend Introduction Meeting & Orientation
  • Complete Acknowledgement finalizing student’s FLEX Program enrollment and acknowledging requirements/expectations.

Spring Candidates

  • May be any qualifying current student.
  • Show test scores indicating student is on grade level (EOY scores from previous year)
  • Have 75% or higher on final coursework grades from previous year
  • Attend Introduction Meeting & Orientation
  • Complete Acknowledgement finalizing student’s FLEX Program enrollment and acknowledging requirements/expectations.

Requirements & Expectations to Remain in the FLEX Program

These requirements expectations must be met for a student to qualify for and remain in the Flex program.

Course Work

  • Remain at or above 70% in OLS core and electives and stay on track with assigned OLS lessons
  • All assignments must be submitted on time. If an assignment will be late, the student must communicate with teachers.
  • Students will complete all TFAR assignments in Cambium as assigned.
  • Students will complete the Online Learning Course within 1 week of the start of school.

Testing

  • Student will attend and complete required online and in-person testing in a timely manner within the testing window and with academic integrity
  • Student must meet growth expectations on standardized tests and TFAR assessments
  • Readiness/interim scores at mastery or above (some Basic scores will be taken on a case-by-case basis) – students must take every readiness/interim assessment.
  • Learning Coaches do not provide academic support or guidance during at-home testing.

Communication

  • Learning Coach/Student will maintain contact with teachers and other school staff monthly.
  • Learning Coach and students will return all TVAH phone calls and email messages within 24 hours.
  • Students will complete Monthly Connection Survey emailed out by the FLEX Coordinator and/or attend a monthly connection Class Connect

Engagement

  • Learning Coach will ensure that student logs in 5 days per week and completes required assignments, according to the weekly plan.
  • Learning Coach will commit to prepping and delivering daily lesson instruction.

Academic Integrity

  • Learning Coach and student will abide by the TVAH Student Handbook and will maintain academic integrity, as explained within.

Attendance

  • Students are required to meet and adhere to TVAH’s Attendance Policy & Expectations

Class Connects

  • The Learning Coach and student will complete Orientation and Teacher Orientations within 1st week of school
  • Students may be required to attend Special Education, Response to Intervention (RTI), Progress Monitoring, and Class Connect Sessions, when applicable.
  • If content teachers identify a specific need for the student to come to a session to remediate certain content, the students are required to do so

Dismissal Process

If a student is non-compliant while actively enrolled in the Flex program the Flex Coordinator will reach out through email for a minimum of 4 weeks before they will be dismissed from the program. The student will be placed on probation and asked to raise all their grades to passing. Grades will be reviewed bi-weekly on Monday for compliance.
